M. M. Wonderland
sincere fabulist & weaver of words
I will write you a tragedy, in blood if I must,
of time and loss, and how our blood rusts.
Listen to the ticking the clicking of guns.
Take in the ripping, the sticking of mud.
Look at the snow, the low beat of drums.
And watch as Wonderland hides the sun.
-M. M. WONDERLAND, HEARTS & STONES
M. M. Wonderland, author of Hearts & Stones, is a prolific artist, writer, and creator of worlds. After writing and illustrating the first installment of a manga, she crafted a new heroine: Lamprocapnos Spectabilis Heart, current Princess of Hearts and descendant of the evil queen in Alice's Wonderland. Taking Lewis Carroll's Wonderland as a rough sketch, M. M. fully developed the world, weaving in beloved fairy tales, warped into a spectrum of tragic delights.
A native North Carolinian, M. M. Wonderland is inspired by fairytales, folktales, and fantasies from around the world. While Hearts & Stones is set in Europe, her illustrations and current animation project - Radio Sick - are inspired by Japan and anime aesthetics. Her goal is to produce Hearts & Stones and its sequel as full-length animated films.
Hearts & Stones is available from Knight King Press. Updates on Radio Sick are available on instagram @m.m.wonderland and via email from Knight King Press.

Hearts & Stones, a fantasy novel 2025
Hundreds of years after Alice and the fall of the Mad Queen, a new Princess of Hearts takes center stage. Lam, our 16 year old heroine, wins the (notorious) international Games and loses family as she seeks to take care of those around her. Carrying too many crowns, she must balance her duty, while navigating her relationship with the boy who boasts the most elusive smile in Wonderland. As god-like beings, known as the Storytellers, fight to pull her life and the fate of the Kingdoms down a tragic path, war is brought from whispers to massacres in the span of one month. The fighting bleeds from one moon to the next, till Lam finally enters the fray. Where killing is easy for her, the challenge is in keeping her Empire alive.
